What is CSV Import?

  • CSV import in GetSales.io allows you to integrate your existing contact database into the platform for LinkedIn or email outreach.

Why Import CSV Files?

  • Efficient Data Integration: Importing a CSV file is beneficial if you have a pre-collected contact database or are transitioning to an automated outreach platform/moving away from manual outreach methods.

How to Import a CSV File:

1. Requirements for Importing:

  • List Creation: Either create a new list or choose an existing one where the contacts will be added.

  • CSV File Structure: Ensure the CSV file has a clear structure for seamless integration.

  • Necessary data: for us to commence the enrichment process, you need to have either a LinkedIn ID or Email of the Contacts in the CSV you are importing. Without it no enrichment will happen and neither LinkedIn Automation

  • Optional Setting: There's an option to move contacts to this list if they are already present in your team's database.

2. Handling Existing Contacts:

  • If the ‘move to list if already saved’ option isn't enabled, some contacts might not be added to your new list because they already exist in another list in your team. In this case the Contacts that already exist on the platform will be marked as 'Duplicates'.

3. Import Process:

  • Field Matching: After adding the CSV file, match the fields from your CSV file with the corresponding fields in GetSales.io. On the import screen, GetSales fields will be on the left, and your CSV column names on the right.

  • If you use fields that are not on GetSales already, you need to create custom fields in Settings to match them with your CSV in advance

  • The data from the CSV file will always be given priority, all the missing data will be filled either from the existing database on GetSales or by commencing enrichment

  • Finalising Import: Once you've matched the fields, click on 'Create Import' to complete the process.

  • Make sure that the file you are importing is no more than 5000 rows long

  • We recommend creating a CSV file through Google Spreadsheets instead of Office since Microsoft can be buggy with character encoding.

Common error reasons:

  • invalid structure of the file

  • upon import the fields weren't matched correctly in the matrix

  • no LinkedIn ID or Email was in the CSV file you are importing

  • "Unsupported LinkedIn ID value" - incorrect LinkedIn ID. This can happen when instead of LinkedIn ID something else is inputted (like

  • "The linkedin format is invalid" - LinkedIn link is not of a Profile

  • "The custom field 1 must not be greater than 511 characters. (and 1 more error)" - this error means that in your CSV file there is a custom field value that's too long
