This is one of the most common import questions: you uploaded a CSV (or imported from Sales Navigator / LinkedIn / the API), the contacts appear in your CRM or in a List, but they never start sending in your automation.
In almost every case the cause is the same: importing contacts into GetSales does not add them to an automation. Importing and enrolling are two separate steps. This article explains why, and how to actually get imported contacts into a flow.
Importing ≠ enrolling
When you run an import, GetSales saves the contacts to your CRM (and to a List, if you chose one). That's all an import does. It does not place those contacts into any automation — even if the List is used somewhere in a flow. To send to imported contacts, you have to enrol them into the automation in one of the two ways below.
Method 1: Add contacts directly to the automation (recommended)
Use this when you have a batch of contacts ready to go.
Open your automation builder.
Click the Add Contacts button above the segment node you want them to enter (usually Segment 1).
Select the specific import or List you just created — this is the step most people miss. If you don't pick the right import/List here, nothing is added.
Confirm. The selected contacts enter the automation at that segment
Method 2: Use a segment auto-filter for ongoing routing
Use this when you want new contacts to flow in automatically as they're added to a List.
Go to CRM → Lists and create a List (e.g. Campaign A intake).
Import or add your contacts to that List.
In the automation builder, click the target Segment node and set an auto-filter → List = Campaign A intake.
Update the segment.
Any contact that matches the filter will be routed into that segment automatically when it enters the automation. See also: Filters in GetSales CRM
"It says 0 contacts were added" — check these
You didn't select the import/List in the Add Contacts dialog. Re-open it and pick the exact import.
They're duplicates. A contact can only exist once in GetSales. Contacts already in your CRM are flagged as duplicates and are not re-added. Enable Move to list if already saved during the next import if you want existing contacts grouped into the new List.
The contacts were previously cancelled in this automation. Cancelled contacts can't be re-added to the same automation — duplicate the automation and add them to the copy.
They're waiting on enrichment. Newly imported leads can sit in a waiting enrichment status at the segment level and enter the flow gradually once enrichment completes (a few hours to a few days).
The import itself isn't saving contacts
If the contacts never even reach your CRM, the import is stuck rather than un-enrolled. The usual causes: the sender running the import is not in Working status (Out of Schedule, logged out, error); the sender hit its Search Page Import Limit for the day; or a Sales Navigator import on a sender without an active Sales Navigator subscription or with an invalid search URL.
