What's an InMail?

InMail is a type of personal message you can send directly to any LinkedIn user, even if they are not your 1st-degree connection.

This is a paid feature available in LinkedIn Premium, Sales Navigator, and Recruiter. The number of InMail credits you get each month depends on your LinkedIn plan. However, if a recipient has enabled Open Profiles, you can send them InMails without using credits.

InMail is a powerful way to reach more targeted leads and bypass the standard connection request limit.

LinkedIn InMail Limits

The number of monthly credits depends on your subscription:

  • Premium Career — 5 credits per month

  • Premium Business — 15 credits per month

  • Sales Navigator — 50 credits per month (unused credits save up to 150 max)

  • Recruiter Lite — 30 credits per month

  • Basic (free) — you can only message people with Open Profiles

Important: to send InMails, GetSales currently works most stable for LinkedIn accounts with Sales Navigator. For all other LinkedIn subscriptions, InMail sending is available only to contacts with Open Profiles.

If the recipient has Open Profile, you can send them an InMail for free without spending credits. Only Premium users can enable Open Profile on their account.

Note: If your LinkedIn account does not have Sales Navigator, LinkedIn may still allow sending a few free InMails to Open Profiles. Based on our observations, this limit is usually 5–15 InMails per month, but LinkedIn does not publish exact numbers.

Sending InMails in GetSales

You can send InMails in two ways:

1. Send InMail via Automation

  1. In the automation builder, click the plus (+) to create a new node.

  2. In the node panel, choose Send InMail.

  3. Enter the Subject and body text of your InMail. You can use variables or attach files.

Send InMail node with subject and body fields filled
  4. Click Create. All contacts that pass through this node will receive the InMail.

Tip: Plan your automation carefully. For example, send InMails only to contacts who did not accept your connection request. You can add a Wait for Reply check after the Send InMail node.

2. Send InMail via Messenger

  1. Go to Messenger in GetSales.

  2. Open the contact you want to message.

  3. Select the correct Sender Profile and the InMail channel.

  4. Enter the Subject and body text of your InMail.

  5. Click Send to send the InMail.

Important: If your LinkedIn account does not have an active Sales Navigator subscription, you cannot send a second InMail until the recipient replies to the first one. With Sales Navigator, each new InMail simply uses one credit.

Troubleshooting

Error: “You do not have enough InMail credits”

This means your monthly Sales Navigator credits have been used up. They will reset at the start of the next billing month.
Note: GetSales only sends InMails through Sales Navigator. Even if you have credits in another LinkedIn Premium plan, you may still see this error.

Error: “Awaiting reply: new InMail can be sent only after the contact replied”

This means the contact has already received an InMail from you and has not replied yet.

  • Without Sales Navigator, you must wait for their reply before sending another InMail.

  • With Sales Navigator and active credits, you can still send another InMail.

I don't see a reply to my InMail in GetSales but I have it in Sales Navigator.

If you don't see a reply that you got in GetSales, it means it hasn't synced yet. InMails and Sales Navigator dialogues sync every 2 hours. The sync delay is added for safety reasons.
