What Are AI Templates in GetSales?

AI Templates let you craft personalized messages based on each contact’s data — without leaving GetSales.
When you use an AI Template in your automation, it follows your prompt instructions to tailor the message for every person you reach out to.

Example: You can create a prompt like “Write a short, friendly LinkedIn intro using the contact’s {{headline}} and {{about}} info.”
The AI will automatically generate a unique message for each recipient.

Choose the Template Type

When creating a new AI Template, start by selecting the message type.

Create Template modal window with the Message type dropdown expanded

The type defines where the template can be used inside automations:

Template Type

LinkedIn Template

Send Message nodes

Email Template

Send Email nodes

InMail Template

Send InMail nodes

Connection Note Template

Send Connection Request nodes

Comment Template

Important: Each template type is channel-specific. For example, you can’t use a LinkedIn template when sending an InMail - no matter if it's an automated action or a message in the unibox sent manually.

Explore the Template Page

When you open the AI Templates page, you’ll see three main sections:

1. Left Sidebar – Template List

AI template interface with the left side bar highlighted and filters dropdown open
  • Displays all templates you’ve created or that teammates have shared.

  • Use filters to view by channel (LinkedIn or Email) or by author (you or the team).

2. Center – Template Editor

This is where you create and edit your template.

When starting from scratch, you’ll see an empty message field with three buttons below it:

  • Attach – add attachments (for email templates).

  • Insert Variable – insert contact variables (e.g., {first_name}, {company}).

  • AI Block – add an AI prompt section.

3. Right Sidebar – Template Testing

Use this section to preview and test your AI Template before saving it.

It includes:

  • Sender selection: choose which sender profile to use.

  • Contact selection: pick a sample contact to personalize the message for.

  • Generate button: click to see how the AI will craft the message based on your prompt and contact data.

Add and Configure the AI Block

When you click AI Block, a light blue box appears in your message field labeled AI Block.

This is where you type your prompt — the instructions for how the AI should write the message.

Example prompt:

“Create an icebreaker message based on the contact’s details: {{about}}.”

Tip: Use variables (like {{about}}, {{headline}}, {{company}}) so the AI can personalize messages using actual contact data.

Choose the AI Model

Under Prompt Instructions, choose the LLM integration for your template.
By default, you can use OpenAI and select one of these models:

  • gpt-4o-mini

  • gpt-5-mini

AI template page with Prompt Instruction section open.

Add Prompt Instructions text below the LLM selection or leave it empty to use GetSales default prompt instructions.

Note: You can also integrate your own LLM provider.
The article “How to Integrate a Custom LLM with GetSales” with setup instructions is coming soon.

Add a Fallback Message

Click Enable Fallback Message to define a backup message used when:

  • AI validation fails, or

  • Required data (like {{about}}) is missing.

This ensures your automation always sends something — even if the AI can’t generate a message.

Test Your AI Template

Use the right sidebar to test your template:

  • Sender: choose which sender profile to use.

  • Contact: pick a contact to test personalization.

  • Generate: click to create the message for that contact.

If you like the result, click Create AI Example to help the system learn your preferred tone and style for future generations.

Tip: Testing templates before using them in automations ensures your prompts produce the tone and structure you want.

Save and Use the Template

When your AI Template looks good:

  1. Click Save.

  2. Use it in your automations — select it in the relevant node type (Send Message, Send Email, etc.).

AI template page with Save button highlighted.

Note: If you receive an error "Something went wrong" when generating messages, make sure you’ve selected an LLM model in the prompt instructions.

That’s it! Your AI Template is ready to personalize outreach at scale — automatically adapting to each prospect’s profile.
